The Croydon Library is like no other

History and charm is all around town to see and even if you head over to our library you will be amazed by this lovely building especially when the sun is setting. This literary haven at Matron Morrow's Hall is, since February 2024, the home to Croydon Library.

This library stands as more than just a repository of books. Its historical charm draws visitors—a place where wooden beams hold whispered tales from generations past. Imagine stepping into a time capsule—the original male wing of the Croydon Hospital, built in 1894. The hospital’s legacy lives on, now transformed into a sanctuary of knowledge and connection.

Beyond the bookshelves lies a magical realm—the First5Forever play area. Here, little ones explore, giggle, and learn. Cosy corners invite them to dive into picture books, while interactive displays spark curiosity. It’s a place where imaginations bloom, setting the foundation for lifelong learning.

Families gather, students study, and seniors reminisce. The verandah becomes a meeting point—a place to share ideas, sip tea, and watch the world go by. Each wooden beam whispers tales of resilience and connection. Whether you’re immersed in a novel or simply soaking up the sun, the library embraces you. The library's verandah invites you to sit, relax, and unwind. Whether you’re enjoying a book or simply soaking up the positive vibes with endless views, you’re sure to have a great time.  Here, the sun’s warmth seeps into your bones, and worries gently dissipate.
