Federation Park

Right in the heart of Croydon sits Federation Park — a little patch of heaven nestled in the centre of town. Curious sculptures, picnic tables, a playground, tennis courts, and electric barbecues sit beneath the cooling shade of mature trees and shade sails. Imagine this: steel sculptures standing tall, each telling a story as vast as the Australian sky. Wander through the park and discover Hans Pehl's steel masterpieces. Pehl, an artist from the Atherton Tablelands, has captured the heart and soul of Croydon — from its Indigenous heritage and Chinese settlers to the pastoral industry and gold mining history — bringing it all to life in the visitor’s imagination.
Here too you'll find a memorial to the grit and heart of Australia. The Croydon War Memorial, designed as an open book of names, honours the sons of Croydon who served across the First World War, Second World War, Korean, and Vietnam Wars.

Come ANZAC Day, the park grows atmospheric with memory and respect during an early morning service honouring the brave souls of the past. After the heartfelt moments, stick around for morning tea with the locals or head to the pub to raise a glass to the fallen.

Whether you're a history buff, an art admirer, or just looking for a quiet spot, Croydon's sculptures and War Memorial invite you to stop a while. Let these steel tales and timeless tributes pull you into Croydon's story. .
