Heritage Festival 2025
Croydon Heritage Festival 2025 - Where Golden Legacy Met the Orient
This June, Croydon gave the Outback something to talk about. Over nine days, the 2025 Heritage Festival turned our quiet, golden town into a hive of celebration—where rodeo grit met silk fans, dragon dancers shared the streets with stockmen, and strangers became neighbours. From the thundering hooves of the campdraft to the hush of a red-soil ceremony at the restored Chinese Temple Site, every moment honoured the rich heritage that makes Croydon so unforgettable.
Festival highlights included:
-
The grand opening of the Chinese Temple and Settlement Site
→ Explore the Temple’s story
-
Traditional lion & dragon dances by CADCAI
-
Camdraft and rodeo action
-
Heritage walking tours, trivia nights, and stargazing sessions
-
The legendary Gold Coin Hunt (yes, real gold was found! Of course, we are in Croydon!)
-
Free Gulflander rides to Golden Gate
→ Hop aboard the Gulflander
-
Live music, community high teas, fireside storytelling & more
And of course, we wrapped it all in glowing lanterns, good food, and the kind of welcome only Croydon can offer.

A festival of firsts—and forever memories
This year’s festival welcomed descendants from across Australia, along with distinguished guests including Dr Ruan Zongze, Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane; Vice-Consul Ren Shoujun; and Chinese-Australian community leader Larry Wong. Among them were visitors experiencing Croydon for the very first time.
Some came for history. Some came for adventure. All left with a little gold dust on their boots and a story in their pocket.
